Save Rainforest – Save Wildlife Habitats15 Ways You Can Help Save Rainforest and Other Threatened Wildlife Habitats
1. Make WLT your partner - or become a sponsorThe most effective way you can support the World Land Trust is by choosing to become a WLT partner. Partners pledge to donate £5 a month or more for at least a year. This helps us plan ahead, knowing that we have a secure income. One week per month, instead of that bottle of wine, save a piece of wildlife habitat instead! Business and organisations can sponsor the WLT - see our sponsors page for more information. 2. Make a donation to help save rainforest - Save an AcreOne acre of rainforest, steppe or other threatened land costs just £50. Imagine 'owning' a piece of unique wilderness, with the multitude of wildlife it supports. With your help we can protect these biologically important areas and you can proudly display your certificate, knowing that you have made a difference. Save an acre of rainforest here. 3. Save rainforest as a unique gift - Give an AcreWhy not give an acre as a gift for a friend or loved one? The perfect gift for the person who has everything - or who wants nothing, this is literally a gift for the world. Whether for a birthday, wedding, Christening or anniversary, by saving an irreplaceable piece of wildlife habitat you will give a gift that lasts forever and your gift recipient will receive a personalised certificate showing the area you have saved on his or her behalf. 4. Save rainforest when you earn with payroll giving (UK only)Here's an easy way to support wildlife conservation: If the company you work for runs a Payroll Giving programme, you can have a donation to the World Land Trust deducted straight from your gross salary. You can give as much as you like and donations are tax free. If your company does not yet run a Payroll Giving programme, did you know that the Government is offering one off grants of up to £500 to encourage businesses with less than 500 employees to participate? And that's not all, the government will also match the donations of each employee for six months from the time of their first donation. As the donation is taken off the monthly wage packet before tax, this means a donation of £10 will only cost the standard rate employee £7.80 while the charity will receive a whopping £20.00. Persuade your employer to set up a Payroll Giving programme, and persuade your colleagues to donate to the World Land Trust. Fifty people donating £10 a month for six months would raise £6000. This is enough to buy a whole rainforest nature reserve – and it could even be named after the company. For further information or help contact the World Land Trust. More information about Payroll Giving in the UK, including a list of Payroll Giving agencies, can be found on the HM Revenue & Customs website: www.hmrc.gov.uk/payrollgiving. 5. Save rainforest when you support a WLT sponsorMany of the Trust's sponsors make donations to the WLT when supporters become their customers. For example:
